Located on the shores of Lake Murray and only ten miles from Columbia, the capital of South Carolina, Irmo, has grown from a sleepy little railroad stop to a small suburban crossroads to one of the county’s most sought after places to live.
Despite the town’s growth, Irmo does not have an actual downtown area. Rather, it offers a variety of strip centers and shopping plazas, as well as the assortment of retail stores located in Columbiana Center and all of the vast array of shops, restaurants, movie theatres and offices situated on both sides of Harbison Boulevard.
